Are your products made from real stainless steel or are they stainless steel effect?

All our basic products are made from 304 industrial grade stainless steel, which, in the case of backed products, is wrapped around an mdf core. Our worktops are made form 316i grade stainless steel, which makes them more resiliant to repeated contact with cleaners or other acids and enzymes. Notice boards are made from 430 grade, which has a higher content of ferrous material to make them magnetic.

What is the largest splashback/upstand/plinth you can make?

In flat sheet, the largest we can make is 3000 x 1500mm, which would be supplied with horizontal brushing. If you wanted vertical brushing, the largest we can supply is 1500 x 3000mm. For backed products, the largest splashback we can supply is 2950 x 1450mm with horizontal brushing, 1450 x 2950mm for vertical. For upstand, the maximum height is 1450mm and for plinth 1500mm. Both of these products have a maximum width of 3000mm with no end folds. If you require these, deduct one thickness of the product per fold from this number.

I need a splashback/upstand/plinth longer than 3 metres, what can I do?

The only thing we can do is to split the length you require into two pieces and supply with a joining trim to cover the join Alternatively, you can butt join the items if preferred. A small charge may be incurred to prepare the butt join depending on the order value.

Will my product mark or rust over time?

No. If properly taken care of, your splashback, upstand or plinth will not mark or rust. Due to the grade of steel used in our notice boards, prolonged cleaning with acidic based substances could potentially cause rust spots, however, this should not normally be a problem.

What is the difference between your backed and flat sheet products?

Functionally, none at all, the difference is entirely from an aesthetic point of view and down to personal taste. However, there are a few practicalities suited to each type of product. The backed version is easier to fit and more suitable for uneven surfaces. The unbacked product requires a very flat surface and the edges are harder to seal if there is any gap due to surface irregularities.

What does 'Shaped Edge or Cut Outs' mean?

We can make all our products with this option, in irregular shapes and/or with cut outs. Please note, we can only offer smoothly curved edges on flat sheet products. It may not be possible to fold some edges on backed products due to the perameters of the folding machinery, please check this before ordering.

If choosing 'Yes,' for this option, you will need to contact us prior to purchase for a price. All custom products of this nature require a diagram to confirm all dimensions, which can be sent by email to or faxed to us on 0116 2340050.

What does 'Brushing' mean?

All products with this option have a brushed effect, that runs in the direction indicated - horizontal (Left to right) or vertical (Up and down.).Certain products have a choice of which direction this brushing runs.

Please note, if choosing 'Vertical,' products are limited in length to 1500mm for flat sheet products or 1500mm less one product thickness for each folded end that is required.

Do your backed products come with folded edges?

Backed splashbacks come with all four edges folded as standard, upstand come with the tops edges folded as standard, with an option to have one or both of the ends folded. Plinths have the option to have one or both ends folded.

How do I fit my splashback/upstand?

You can fix your splashback/upstand using either the silicon or CT1 adhesives available through in our products, or a grab type adhesive like no-nails. When sealing along the edges and joins, we recommend using the CT1, as this creates a much cleaner, barely visible finish.

How do I fit my plinth?

For flat sheet plinth, you simply need to glue the steel to your existing plinth using either the silicon or CT1 adhesives available in our products. For backed plinth, you will need to attach clips (Also available in our products.) to the rear of your plinth.

Can I cut/trim my products down myself?

For products without folded edges/ends and flat sheet, yes you can. Cutting by hacksaw can be very tricky and can only be done on narrow products. Filing is possible with care, but very slow. By far the best method of cutting is to use an angle grinder with a thin (1mm) cutting disc suitable for stainless steel. These are available in our products. When cutting a backed product, use the grinder to cut only the steel and then cut the mdf with a wood saw.

Can I drill my product for screw mounting?

Yes you can. We recommend lightly centre punching the hole, then using a quality drill bit, drilling at a slow speed, with some cutting oil for lubrication.
